The synonym "Sambo" caused minor controversy as "Sambo" is an offensive slur against Black people, and Black people are stereotypically associated with watermelons. The word was included due to the fact the sambo is also one of the many names for Cucurbita ficifolia, a gourd that resembles an watermelon. Jeremiah Slaczka confirmed that there was absolutely no racist intent and that he did not know about the racist slur offhand. However,, the synonym "Sambo" has been removed from subsequent games.
