A Mirage is an optical occurance where light rays are bent to resemble other objects. It most often refers to a desired object that one sees from afar in a hostile environment but that turns out not to exist and to be purely a combination of the aforementioned optical illusion and one's imagination. It's in-game reflects this as it looks like the cliché "desert mirage": an oasis.
